Natasha Habert, M.S.

I am grateful that I found the amazing field of sport and performance psychology! Recently graduated from Florida State University with my Master’s in Sport Psychology, I enjoyed every moment of gaining new knowledge in my applied work to help teams and individuals develop a strong mindset. In my consulting work, my role is to teach various sport and performance psychology topics/concepts through facilitation of sessions at the group and/or individual level based on the assessment of client needs and guide their journey of achieving their goals and objectives.

Throughout this journey, my objective is to facilitate evidence-based practice while customizing the consulting experience for the specific client and goals and meeting the client where they are at based on age, sport, and individual needs. Overall, the goal of Optimize & Thrive Performance, LLC is to assist performers in individual and team settings to leverage their mindset and/or team dynamic to optimize and thrive in pursuit of their goals!

My Story

I was involved in a variety of sports from an early age and fell in love with the competitive nature of each game, the teamwork and collaboration that was imperative for success, and the individual effort and dedication necessary to improve. My competitive career took me through all of my college eligibility at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, allowing me to learn appropriate strategies in pursuit of optimal physical and mental performance.

Throughout the years, my confidence wavered and ranged from an optimal state to much self-doubt in my abilities. I struggled to understand the inconsistency and the primary reasoning behind the fluctuations. In addition, I strongly experienced perfectionism in my athletic career. As I was motivated to improve my skills and performance and strived for excellence in many ways, I also struggled with feeling as though my performance wasn’t good enough and couldn’t live up to my own expectations. This experience was both helpful and harmful in nature towards my headspace and performance. Lastly, I endured the challenge of fear of returning to sport after facing an injury while running in the last few years in my endeavors after my college eligibility.

All of these experiences drove my interest in how to develop and maintain an optimal mindset to perform. As many people look back at their athletic or professional careers, the thought of “I wish that I had known how to improve my mental training” hits close to home. The desire to reach an optimal state of well-being and performance resonates strongly with most individuals in sport, work, and life contexts, highlighting the benefits for an individual to learn personalized tools to improve confidence and motivation, enhance performance, and be adaptable with strategies to cope with adversity. Through my education, I found this amazing field of sport psychology and have been passionate about helping others develop a strong mindset and the individualized tools to optimize, thrive, and perform in all domains.
